About the Project

This project intention was to connect audiences with classical music of the highest quality in innovative and inspiring way whilst showcasing local culture. Two new classical music works were commissioned and performed in local venues.

Outcomes

  1. The commission piece ‘Memory of a Boat’ for string quintet was written in connection with the Italian Experience exhibition by Sabrina Lauriston and Trudie Leigo. This piece of music premiered at the Artists Table event for the exhibition.
  2. The second commissioned work for string quintet, ‘Anachronisms’, premiered at Bella Canna's stand-alone, sold-out concert Conversations at the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery.
  3. Performing at cross-genre artistic events gave audiences a greater appreciation of artists and were given the opportunity to learn about how musicians connect with the works they perform.
  4. Ongoing opportunity for future delivery of commissioned works to locations outside of Bundaberg region.
